The best fridge cleaner recipe – all natural ingredients!

Who likes cleaning out their kitchen fridge?  Well, okay, I kind of do, but it’s not so much that I enjoy cleaning my fridge.  It’s more that I appreciate a clean fridge. (Which I did not currently have…) And nothing works better than this fridge cleaner recipe!

I save cleaning out my fridge for the same day that I do grocery shopping.  Even though I know that might seem like an overwhelming task while putting away the groceries, it works well!

I tackle my fridge shelf by shelf.  Growing up, my mom would always pull EVERYTHING out of the fridge, give it all a good clean, and then sort as she put things back.  I don’t like doing it this way though because sometimes life catches me off guard and I don’t want to get pulled away with all my cold goods out on the counter.

For today’s clean out of the fridge, I decided to try a new fridge cleaner recipe…

We’ve been working at eliminating all unnecessary chemicals from our home.  (Bleach wipes still make the odd appearance when the tummy flu comes around or when the cat decides to grace us with her last consumed entree…)

Jillee’s fridge cleaner and deodorizer

I found this great sounding recipe at One Good Thing By Jillee.  You can clean and deodorize your fridge with just 3 ingredients: water, white vinegar, and lemon essential oil.  I happened to have all 3 things on hand!  I also found an empty spray bottle (Wonders will never cease!)  Not as nice as the one Jillee had, I will definitely be checking out the Mason Jar company.

I followed Jillee’s instructions for mixing and cleaning and it worked really really well!  I will definitely be using this recipe for my fridge cleaning again.  My fridge is sparkling and lacks any odours except for the slight sweet scent of lemon.  What more could a girl ask for!

Therefore, I highly recommend giving this recipe for fridge cleaner and deodorizer a try!  It’ll be my go to from now on.  To give this a try – check out Jillee’s recipe on her website.

And now I get to start the week with a fridge that has no old leftover, nothing expired, and it’s clean and organized.  So, what’s the meal plan for the week?  Stay tuned for my upcoming post on what we will be eating this week.

  • Wow, you clean it every week? That’s admirable! I use a mix of vinegar and water for a lot of things, including cleaning fruit and veggies.

      Hey Michelle,

I do clean my fridge weekly. But there are plenty of other things that don’t get cleaned that often! I love vinegar and water too and am now just starting to learn about using essential oils as well.

  • Deborah says:

I use a lot of natural cleaners too. Vinegar is at the top of the list, along with baking soda. I love lemon oil..it makes a great air freshener too. I put drops in the garbage bin, on cotton balls in my pantry and on a fake plant near my front door!

  • Home's Cool! says:

I spray a mixture of lemon, mint, and patchouli everywhere in my kitchen. I’ve had pantry moths, once. Never again!

    • Nadine says:

Oh man! We had moths get into our flour in our old apartment and it was disgusting and disastrous! Your combination sounds good! I’m not a huge fan of patchouli, but one of my good girlfriends is! I’ll have to pass your recipe along to her.

  • #messy tables usually cause me grief! But not this time, when I turned around and saw our #kitchentable a complete cluttered #mess, I felt happy πŸ’• today my table reflects the mom I want to be for my kids always. We went on a #naturewalk together, #collected leaves, make #leafprint artwork and enjoyed each other! Our messy kitchen table reflects the love and learning that happened here today. What about you? What made you smile today?
  • This #sweet and #serious boy is on the count down to #threeyears! Time goes so fast it's crazy!!! If you've been following my feed for awhile you know how old my baby is! If you multiply his age and Mickey Blues age - they are the square root of my next oldest son! He just had a birthday. How old did he turn??? #math #riddles
  • I'm not good at #mushroom identification but I still like to #photograph them!! We found these little ones growing on the side of the road on our #naturewalk this morning. Izzy and I are starting a #couchto5k program and today was our first #run. We enjoyed our walk back looking at leaves and everything growing along the side of the road. He wants to learn to #identifymushroom . Anyone that can #identifythis ?
  • Things are certainly coming along well in the #garden ! The #garlic is about 2 feet tall, the #potato plants are ready to mound up, as our everbearing #strawberries have flowers on them! Despite the cooler than normal #weather at this time of year, everything is growing and growing well! I can't wait to walk through the garden in full bloom and pick our food πŸ’•
  • Happy Mother's Day everyone! I don't get to see or be with my mom this year so I wrote this letter to her for #mothersday. It's my #mothersdaygift to her and my #encouragement to #moms and #daughters everywhere. #linkinbio πŸ’•
