Do you know how to answer these tough bible questions?

The New Leaf Publishing Group has put together a new review crew and I am really excited to be a part of it!  They have some excellent Bible Resources and now you get to hear about them hot off the press!  And the first one is a new resource for answering tough bible questions.

Quick Answers to Tough Bible Questions

Do you know the answers to these tough bible questions? Answers in Genesis has a great new resource book out to help answer common questions from creation to salvation. Come and see all this great book has to offer! Quick Answers to Tough Questions is the newest resource for helping our older children (and ourselves) understand the Bible, evolution, and creation.

This book, written by Brian Osborne and Bodie Hodge, is beautiful from front to back.  The photos are stunning, the page layouts are appealing, and the content provided is simple to understand and follow.  This truly is an excellent resource for any Christian home library!

Ken Ham, the president and CEO of Answers in Genesis, wrote a great forward explaining the background history to the need for this book in today’s culture.  Both Mr. Osborne and Mr. Hodge, work for Answers in Genesis.  They are considered to be leading apologists for the church reformation of this age.

Why is this book different than any other book?

Although there are a lot of different books that cover each of these topics, I have yet to come across one that covers all three.  And definitely not one that covers these deep and complex issues in such a simple to understand way.

Using This Book In Your Homeschool

Over the last few days I’ve been pouring through the pages of this book.  The questions that they’ve chosen to ask are definitely ones that have come up in conversation here.  I’ve been asked many of these questions by others who question our beliefs.  My own children have also asked these questions as they grow and start to grasp a deeper understandings of who we are and what it means to be a Christian.

I was able to read through the book fairly quickly and easily.  Because of it’s Question and Answer format, there are some issues discussed without a great amount of background context.  However, if you wanted to learn more about a particular topic, there is a list in the back of the book with references to other Answers in Genesis materials.

What topics are covered?

The common questions presented are on creation, sin, noah’s ark and the flood, dinosaurs, human races, evolution, the origin of life, and what is the gospel.  Therefore, the book ends with everything pointing back to Jesus, and our need for him as a saviour and our commission to go and share him with the world.

A 2 page spread is used to answer each question.  The authors give a brief overview of the issue and its roots.  Then the answer to each question follows.

The authors quote scriptures as appropriate.   Then they give more scripture references in the bottom left hand corner at the start of each new question.  As such, these references are really handy for further investigation.  Furthermore, they help us to confirm for ourselves that the word of God aligns with what is being taught here.

Who is this book best for?

I read a section on Noah’s Ark to Izzy, my 9 year old.  The question was “Where did the water come from and where did it go?”  The answer was interesting and informative.  However, Izzy found it hard to follow the discussion.

Have you ever wondered where the water from the great flood went? Come check out this resource… Click To Tweet

This beautiful book will definitely have a place carved out for itself in our homeschool library.  However, I think it might be a few more years before we’ll be ready to really use it.

Questions and Answers to Tough Bible Questions would be an excellent resource for high school students though.  Furthermore, each answer is also a great starting point for further research or just a great conversation.

Personally, I will continue to devour this book in preparation for being able to discuss these topics with my children.

Do you use living books in your Homeschool?? And what books are on your TO READ list this year?? ---------------
Answer:
I LOVE living books as Charlotte Mason calls them!!! My kids have learned to really love literature by teaching them with stories instead of text books. We're reading The Little House series this year and a few select novels from Jean Craighead George as well!!! For my littles I have a whole list of living books!
