Homeschool Preschool: Photos of A Typical Homeschool Day

Homeschool Preschool: Photos of A Typical Homeschool Day

What does a typical homeschool day look like in my house?  It can really vary, but to give you some idea of what my preschoolers homeschool day looks like, I took pictures throughout the day to show you.  There are a few photos added in of common activities that he wouldn’t let me take pictures of this day.  He’s a bit camera shy most days!

A Typical Homeschool Day for our Preschooler

Mickey Blue usually starts out his days playing with toys while I make breakfast and start the morning chores.

Oh man those blue eyes are gorgeous!  This kiddo loves bread and butter.  It’s pretty much his standard for breakfast, usually with a side of breakfast sausage.

After cleaning up from breakfast and doing our book basket reading, we head outside.

This isn’t always our typical homeschool day, but while the weather is still beautiful and conducive we try to take advantage of as much outdoor time as possible!

We usually head back indoors around lunch time and the kids eat while I put Little Lou down for his nap.  Depending on the day, they sometimes get an educational TV show while I’m preoccupied.  Wild Kratts is a big favourite right now!  Anyone else?!

I also try to get in my one on one time with Mickey Blue while Little Lou is sleeping.

His nap can be anywhere from 1- 2 1/2 hours.  Today we played with our fabulous KEVA planks to build a boat filled with WOW characters.  Mickey has really started to enter the stage of imaginative play and its so fun to see what he is thinking and the ideas he comes up with.

*KEVA planks are actually a super cool math learning toy that you can make amazingly complex structures with.  It’s all based on the ratio size of the blocks.  These are used by all the kids in our house!  Learn more about KEVA planks on their website.

We have a lot of book and reading time in our house!  My boys all love books.  I’m sure our monthly deliveries of Usborne books has helped a little to create that excitement!

After this time, Lou is usually back up and we move on to whatever the afternoon plans are.  Sometimes we head out for drum lessons for Izzy, go visit with other homeschool friends, or return to the backyard for more playtime.

I love these preschool days.

They are often challenging as Mickey struggles to become more independent but I’m working hard to help him reach his desire to be able to do more on his own.  (While secretly still enjoying every kiss and cuddle that I can get from him because they really do grow up to fast.)

So, that is a typical homeschool day for my preschooler.  What about you?  What does your typical homeschool day look like?

Question:
Do you use living books in your Homeschool?? And what books are on your TO READ list this year?? ---------------
Answer:
I LOVE living books as Charlotte Mason calls them!!! My kids have learned to really love literature by teaching them with stories instead of text books. We're reading The Little House series this year and a few select novels from Jean Craighead George as well!!! For my littles I have a whole list of living books! See the link in my bio if you'd like a copy of the book list ❤️
