Welcome to Making Her Mama! I'm so glad you're here.

A lot of people ask me what “Making Her Mama” means, so I wanted to share with you why I chose this name and why it’s important.

In my journey as a mother I wear many caps; wife, mother, homemaker, homeschooler and more recently, homesteader.

No matter which role I’m in my kids are beside me – loving me, helping me, challenging & shaping me.

Motherhood is a time of great personal growth and this blog is about sharing that learning with you.  I hope that you’ll find encouragement for the hard days, advice for keeping family life simple, support and resources for homeschooling, and ideas for making memories with your own family.

I’m looking forward to sharing with you all that I’ve learned.  I’m excited to come along side you to support and encourage you no matter where you are in your journey.

Are you really ready to start homeschooling? A look at how families enter the world of homeschooling, encouragement for the new family and a little bit of how we entered the world of homeschooling.      Struggling to find the righthomeschooling resources? • Look what's blooming in my yard!!!! Gorgeous #dahlias everywhere!!! This a a color changing variety. I planted the bulbs last year and they did okay but they came back with a flourish this year despite me forgetting about them and leaving them in the ground all winter. I keep debating now..... we have 20 beautiful #blossoms now and close to a hundred more between the plants. Do I just enjoy them or let my #entrepreneurial son try and sell bouquets??? What would you do?

  • Someone learned how to blow #kisses. His first one went to daddy. And look at those sweet pudgy little baby arms! Man this kid is so fun - he is so sweet. And his personality is really starting to shine through.... like today when we were shopping at #walmart and we picked out a helium #balloon for Mickey Blue's 3rd birthday. Little Lou screamed like he had been dropped all through the check out and out to the car for the balloon. Man, did I regret that balloon, especially when I finally got my screaming baby in the car and checked my receipt! $8 for a helium balloon!!! Never again! Do you have any awesome Walmart stories?
  • Found the coolest garden #snail traveling along our lawn this morning. At first he pulled right up into his shell and hid. But after quietly crouching and patiently waiting, it got up its nerve to continue its journey. God's creatures are #AMAZING! What cool things have you seen this week?
  • Our neighbors are renovating this summer. There's been a lot of activity to keep my curious trio entertained. But the best was the excavator (or elevator as Mickey Blue calls it) that showed up ON HIS BIRTHDAY!!! #bestbirthdaypresentever Shout out to all the construction loving boy moms out there! Can I get a YEAH?!?! #boylife #boymom
  • #captainunderpants .... well, captain #easyups LOL. Mickey Blue was given a pack for his 3rd birthday and Little Lou approves 😝 my boys are such hams, they are always making me laugh! I 💕 #momlife !!! What funny or sweet things have your kids been up to?
  • Isn't #lettuce cool the way that it grows up and out in a spiral fashion!?! This is our first time growing #iceberg lettuce - it's my hubby's favourite! We've had a weird year with growing lettuces, this one is enjoying the whole stretch of garden to itself because none of the other seeds have sprouted, even from the second seeding! I'm going to be potting some to start and transplant! I NEED LETTUCE (I ❤ salad). How's your lettuce doing this year? Got any #tips or #tricks for me?
